Our Programs

United Help Ukraine’s four major programs promote the health and welfare of Ukrainian civilians and defenders as they endure unprovoked Russian brutality, and raise public awareness of their struggle for Ukraine’s freedom—and its very future.

Defender's Aid

The Defender's Aid Program focuses on preserving the safety, physical health, and overall well-being of Ukraine’s defenders. It provides essential humanitarian supplies, including protective gear, tactical first-aid kits, communications and safety equipment, and clothing.

Tactical Medicine

The Tactical Medicine Project is the largest project within our Defenders Aid Program, accounting for about half of its budget because proper training and first-aid can save lives immediately on the battlefield. Tacmed Ukraine is a symbol of saving the lives of Ukrainian defenders and medicals by providing help on the frontlines. In May 2023, UHU adopted an existing medical training organization in Kyiv and rechristened it the United Help Ukraine International Center for Tactical Medicine. We have expanded its capabilities so that it employs 35 certified trainers.  Through the project, UHU has distributed more than 50,000 tactical first aid kits and 300,000 tourniquets to Ukrainian defenders and combat medics since Russia first invaded in 2014. Components of the first aid kits include advanced QuikClot wound dressings to stop heavy bleeding. First aid supplies also include specialized backpacks for paramedics. At a cost of as much as $3,000, each backpack can be used to help up to 15 wounded.

The Medical Aid Program supports healthcare infrastructure and the well-being of wounded individuals and their families. It provides critical hospital and ambulance equipment and supplies, funding for the treatment and rehabilitation of the wounded, and mental wellness resources for children and families scarred by war.

Mental Wellness

Under this program, psychologists provide vital assistance to the mental wellness of traumatized civilian people, especially Ukrainian children.  The Smuha Family Resilience Project is one of the core projects under mental wellness initiatives. The word Smuha in Ukrainian language, means path, lane, or line. We focus on creating the path from the most difficult conditions to strong mental wellness, and future development. Smuha has multiple components to address the needs of children and those who care for them.  “It is vital to the health of Ukraine’s children and young people that they are not overlooked during this challenging time. We are proud to be at the forefront of efforts to care for the people who represent such a crucial piece of our nation’s future.” Maryna Baydyuk, President, UHU.

Wounded Warrior

The Wounded Warrior Program, part of the Medical Aid Program, supports travel to the U.S. for treatment of Ukrainian wounded soldiers. The United Help Ukraine focuses on those amputee defenders who are not available for treatment in Ukraine. The enhanced treatment, prosthetics, and recovery became possible in a partnership with Medical Center Orthotics and Prosthetics in Silver Spring, MD. We also offer housing, transportation, entertainment, and emotional support to those who have sacrificed so much fighting for their country. The Washington Post highlights this initiative. “By providing emotional support to our brave warriors, United Help Ukraine is giving these soldiers a piece of home while they are receiving life-saving treatment here in the US.” Maryna Baydyuk, President, UHU.

Transportation Project

“Delivering Lifesaving Vehicles to the Frontlines”

Our Mission

The mission of United Help Ukraine’s Transportation Project is to support the people of Ukraine—including defenders, volunteers, and civilians—by providing and maintaining emergency vehicles used in the evacuation of the wounded and the delivery of humanitarian aid. We also assist Ukrainian nonprofits and rescue services in civilian evacuations during active attacks.

Why It Matters

When seconds count, safe and reliable transportation can mean the difference between life and death. Ukrainian defenders operate under relentless assault—without proper vehicles, wounded soldiers and civilians may not survive the journey to medical care. This project ensures emergency vehicles are where they’re needed most, fully equipped and field-ready.

What We Deliver

We procure, refurbish, and deliver globally sourced vehicles ready for use across Ukraine.
  • Ambulances
  • All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Evacuation Vehicles
  • Passenger Vansc
  • Cargo Vehicles & Pickup Trucks

What We Do

  1. Procurement & Delivery Vehicles are acquired from global donors and vendors, refurbished if necessary, and delivered directly to Ukrainian frontline units, medical personnel, and humanitarian organizations.
  2. Emergency Medical Support In collaboration with UHU’s Medical Aid Program, most ambulances are fully stocked with emergency medical supplies. These supplies are sourced through in-kind donations, medical procurement partners, and our logistics network.
  3. Repair & Maintenance Network Our network of repair shops—currently in six Ukrainian cities—extends the life of vehicles, saving valuable resources. Repairing three vehicles often costs the same as buying one.
  4. Local Economic Support We prioritize working with Ukrainian-owned auto repair businesses, helping keep them profitable during wartime. This supports job retention and economic resilience.
  5. Vehicle Donation Program – USA UHU is building a U.S.-based donation pipeline, allowing individuals and businesses to donate vehicles.

Who Benefits

  • Ukrainian Defenders
  • Wounded Soldiers & Veterans
  • Volunteer Medics & Field Hospitals
  • Civilians in Danger Zones

Challenges We Face

  • Drones and targeted attacks on ambulances and auto repair shops
